My name is Stephen Farrell, I’m proud to be a Surrey Mason and I need your help.
I will be attempting a sponsored solo Cycle ride around Surrey in support of the RMBI 2019 Festival during the ‘Big Week’ of events in July on the weekend of the 23-24th July 2016.
I hope to start from Oakfield Road, Croydon on Saturday morning and cycle to all the main Masonic centres in Surrey visiting Nutfield, Cranleigh, Godalming, Farnham, Guildford, Bisley, Camberley, Chertsey, Surbiton, Sutton and finishing up back in Croydon on Sunday evening. In all about 130 miles.
Those of you who know me may have noticed a more pronounced ‘John Wayne’ gait of late.
Last year I took up cycling again to try and strengthen my legs after being told that years of playing sports and a profession that has kept me on my feet daily have taken their toll and I was in need of a pair of shiny new metal knees!
Last autumn a visit to the RMBI Care Home at Shannon Court, Hindhead allowed me to learn about the team’s fantastic work in supporting our ageing Brethren. In spending time with some of the residents I came to realise that my own minor aches and pains were nothing in comparison to their health challenges. What better way to assist and support the RMBI’s vital work at Shannon Court and James Terry Court than cycle around the Province with your help and support to raise funds for the 2019 Festival. Being naturally lazy it gives me an incentive to get out and train!
The good news is that this will require little effort from you, I’ll do all the peddling and all you need to do is a few clicks!
If you feel able, your support will help to ensure that their later years are happy, safe and comfortable. All contributions will be gratefully received and faithfully applied!
